KAC PDW
27 February, 2014, 18:18
Hey guys and girls
Making a come back to airsoft at the end of the cricket season after a while out and would really like to get another kac pdw. But as its been a while I just wanted to know if the design has moved on a little in terms of fitting a battery in the hand guard or is a peq still needed? Or better a custom hand guard which can be used?
Also have the internals of the dboys been improved and are the only manufacturers still dboys and vcf?
Cheers

Re: KAC PDW
Have been looking at these myself aswell. Seems not much has changed in a while. Normally the battery is stored in a PEQ but with some modification they can be placed inside the handguard (. There's also a RA-TECH battery kit for this. I'm quite sure this requires re-wiring. There's another thread on here somewhere where someone modded their PDW and made it rear-wired (think it's on sale in classifieds?).

Re: KAC PDW
I've got my vfc pdw set up with the peq box as the problem with it wired inside the ris rail if during a game it runs down you can't change it it needs to be charged in place.
The only real diference between the old vfc and newer ones is different flip up front and rear sights,I've had the dboys one and it doesn't compare to the finish and feel of the vfc one

Re: KAC PDW
well ive got a ra-tech kit, using kong power lipos, and i usually last over half a day skirmishing, which is ok for me as i tend to play a lot of night games which are shorter anyway, but i made an adapter lead which enabled me to use a spare emergency battery fixed on the outside of the ris either on top on underneath and held in place by some stretchy black neoprene which has some velcro on it, i believe its a sports injury wrap....so if my battery dies, and im desperate to use the pdw i can..but i have a back up gun which i normally switch to anyway

I rear wired mine and used the VFC battery sling that was designed for it. I didn't get on with it too well though and ended up snagging the wires. That was after not getting on with the RA tech kit due to needing to it not being easy to remove to charge and I didn't want to charge it in situ (plus the fact it couldn't last an entire day)
In the PDW pic thread someone mentioend they used a battery that fitted in a specific vert grip which might be a decent option

The CYMA battery grip . Keeps whole thing streamlined. Found RA tech kit a PITA
