Would a G36c be a good starting rifle... ive been looking at the TM G36c recoil shock. Would appreciate any help with this decision.
Cheers

Re: First rifle help.
Using the search function will be all the help you need.
The G36 is the worst of the Recoil Shock range, and arguably not even the best of the G36s out there (which is unusual, as the Recoil Shocks are usually class leaders). You get TM's wonderful Recoil Shock system, but you don't get the working bolt lock or the stop-on-empty, and you're saddled with the lacklustre ABS body which is a total pain in the arse to completely re-shell with nylon fibre (ARES or similar).

Re: First rifle help.
Hmmm thanks for the info. Might have to rethink. Definitely would like a recoil gun. Do any other manufacturers have something similar, or is it just TM?

Re: First rifle help.
KWA's ERG range are probably the most viable competitors, but they're limited at present to just two models, all with heavy MagPul trades, unlike the broad range of Recoil Shocks (twenty-odd guns by now, I think). They are substantially cheaper than the equivalent Recoil Shock (the SOCOM) though they do require work to get them UK site legal, if that's a problem for you. G&P have or will soon release a few recoil models, though they don't seem to have the other features that make the Recoil Shocks desirable (bolt lock and stop-on-empty). BOLT have released guns that are similar if not outright clones of the TM SOPMOD, but be aware that despite their relative expense they're not very well made in crucial places (e.g. inside the gearbox).
If you're in the market for a recoil gun, I'd be looking at the TMs or the KWA. For the TM, the standouts are probably the HK416D or the tan SCAR-H, but the base-model SOCOM is just as good and considerably cheaper. The KWA Scout and CQB are much the same so choosing between those two would be aesthetic only.
