    Re: Lipo charger

Most chargers will need a power supply of some sort. it may be just a power lead to a mains socket as the supply might be built in to the charger.

But most chargers require an external power source. Mine uses a pro Peak 13.8v power supply but you can use anything from one of these to a car battery.

      Re: Lipo charger

Ok, the balance lead is the small lead attached to your battery. On more sophisticated chargers you charge the battery using the battery connector. The balance lead plugs into the charger too.

The charge goes through the main leads and the balancing of the battery cells is done through the small connector.

Yours is a very basic charger so it does it all thorough the small leads and you dont use the main battery lead.

The reason for the crocodile clips is as i have previously said. If you don't have a power supply you use a car battery plug the lead into the charger and use the clips for your battery

Looking at the specs on the one jfox found on the bay, the input voltage is OK, but make sure you check the amps.

            Re: Lipo charger

Ok on the charger it says 12V 1.5A input. The laptop charger i have got is 3A. And the pro Peak 13.8v power supply is 8.5A.

              Re: Lipo charger

OK, the pro peak sounds way too hot for the charger.

The laptop supply is giving twice the current that the charger is designed for, so personally I wouldn't risk it without checking with somebody with a bit more technical knowledge. The fact it can run from a car battery, though, makes me suspect the laptop supply would be OK.

If you are on about the big clips in the picture, i found out that they are for my brothers charger. The small croc clips are my so i dont think it would be possible to use on a car battery.

The charger isn't a power supply mate. if you have a pro peak power supply then use that

Those smaller ones will fit onto a battery

why would you buy a 600mah LiPo? your not gaining anything infact you'd be halfing the capacity from most if not all standard NiMh's in guns.
I thought i saw mentioned he was going to get some more LiPo's.
same goes for charger though, they generally try selling you something that you don't need.

Because a Ni-Mh would probably have a lower discharge rate, meaning the battery's straining and shortening run time, where as a 600mAh lipo with a high C rating wouldn't be under stress in a normal setup

Lipos are more energy efficient. A 600Mah Li Po will last as long as 1100mah NiMh. thats as well as what fizzy says abouththem. cant see the point of repeating the same info
