Import question
7 November, 2014, 11:46
Ho, so this may seem like a fairly self evident answer after looking through the various posts and rules with airsoft, but I take it there are zero restrictions on importing gear from the US. By gear I mean pouches, gloves, vests, patches and magazines etc not any weapons. As I type this I reckon the magazines might be a no no but best to check before I drop nearly £400 on an order.
Thanks for reading.

Re: Import question
There are no restrictions - just import duty and VAT to pay if you get caught by customs. There is normally a handing charge by the courier to pay as well.
Your £400 order could be well over £550 by the time charges are applied.

Re: Import question
Might be worth it, I'll trim some of the pouches down and I might get rid of the magazines. Sadly tho the vest is a must havent found one like it over here

Re: Import question
If it's an armour/plate carrier you might find it's a restricted item in the US and they won't ship it internationally

Re: Import question
I've checked about the vest in regards to sizes etc and they've confirmed they'll ship it, but I may double check that later today.

Or you could support UK retailers and order through them?

If I found a retailer over here I would, as I've said the specific vest and brand I want is from the states. At least half the stuff I want is from the US and very few places I've found here sell them including zero one, and if they do have it on their order books It's always out of stock with no eta so in short I'll order from the states when and where needed.

Re: Import question
So you ask Mr Uk retailer to order it for you (if they get trade price). Highly unlikely you'll pay more than what you will just now plus fees too. Most if not all retailers can all get the same stuff and it all comes from the same places.

Re: Import question
You're presuming though, that it's airsoft kit, rather than some real steel vest

Only
if it contains soft armour or hard plates (both are on the USML, and are therefore covered by ITAR). There is nothing to restrict the export of the carriers (aside from retailers that can't be arsed to export) themselves.

Re: Import question
It's a replica USMC force recon CIRAS, so not real steel (I'm not that rich sadly) as for armour plates I believe it comes with replica SAPI plates but if that would count against it then who knows. I am waiting to hear back from them.

That's the thing, a lot of retailers quote ITAR and won't even ship carriers...

You can get the Flyye CIRAS in the UK, infact have a look around for some 2nd hand bargains, I got mine for £90 with all the pouches you could ever want!
