KJW M9 Slide/Hammer Issue
18 January, 2015, 21:59
Recently got the above with an Oshiboom in a trade for my nearly new 1911.
Although the gun
seems
to fire
okay
, the slide likes to stick back when racked by hand (as said, seems to cycle okay when firing, albeit a 'slow' blowback).
Using google-fu, I managed to narrow down the issue to the hammer.
The slide seems to be catching on the hammer somewhere - when I hold the hammer down with my thumb, the slide with rack fine.
However, being clueless when it comes to the techie terminology, so was hoping someone could dumb down the 'cure' this issue.
Had a look, but can't really see where the slide is catching the hammer.
Thanks,
Will

Bump! Still not been able to figure this out myself. It's left me completely baffled.

Re: KJW M9 Slide/Hammer Issue
I've seen a similar thing with a WE 1911. On the underside of the slide there was a deliberate "rut" in the blowback mech lets the hammer back up briefly, meaning it had to push the hammer down again when returning forward.

Re: KJW M9 Slide/Hammer Issue
Any way to rectify this? Or is it as simple as attacking it with a file?

I think the 1911 was better after smoothing out the rut, but I'm not sure how important it'd be on the M9.

I'll have a butchers when I get home. Don't mind if it ends up beaten-up a bit.
Hell, it already is!

Yep same thinking as my KSC 226 had same issue but with bit of filing and lube it eased up, it should be clear where its catching from shiny metal being visible but as I did taking a bit off at a time and retry the slide mech until happy with it.

Re: KJW M9 Slide/Hammer Issue
Strange thing is, I can't see any signs on the hammer where it's catching. :/

Re: KJW M9 Slide/Hammer Issue
It won't necessarily be in the hammer but if take off the slide then towards the rear there maybe a little 'ramp' that's where my 226 was catching???

Any chance of a picture? I'll try and get some pics when I'm at home.
