Systema TW5 owners advice
21 February, 2015, 10:28
I'm in the throws of deciding to take the next step inwards and get myself a systema, I do however dislike the M4 platform so have been looking around at TW5's
No one seems to stock much in the way of these and am looking for some genuine owner advice as to what you think, I don't really want to know that 'your mates, aunties cousin had one' also if there is anyone who I could meet up with at some point soon to have a look at one of the rifles and get an honest feel of it before I go and spend what is considerably more than most airsoft weapons costs that would be beyond helpful, I'm down in Suffolk but travelling to a game somewhere to have a look and a decent game away from our usual sites is well within the boundaries of what I'm willing to do to get genuine feedback etc
Many thanks

Re: Systema TW5 owners advice
TW5 are great for CQB sites but pointless for woodland, although the TW5 does not need to be Tac at any point as they run great out of the box and more reliable then the M4 the range on them equals that of the systema m4 but its just the mags are pain 40 rounds per mag and you will get tired of reloading them. Although i would not get rid of mine now not after i sold my first one years ago and just had to get another.

Re: Systema TW5 owners advice
I had one for a few months - only reason I sold it on was to pay for car repairs.
I found it really great fun to use - granted it's heavier than the M4s but a decent sling will take some of the slack.
The ROF combined with the 40rd mags does mean you'll be switching mags frequently, but all it means is you may have to adjust your play style (unless you're used to the real cap with GBBRs).

Re: Systema TW5 owners advice
I own both a Systema PTW and TW5.
I have to say I prefer the TW5 over my PTW. The trigger is more responsive, the range/accuracy/ROF is better, is more reliable and is much more fun to use due to the 3 round burst.
The only cons I would say (I don't see them as cons) is the low capacity magazines and the weight of the TW5 but adds to the realism.
As mentioned above they perform flawlessly out of the box without the need for any tac mods and are considerbly cheaper than the PTW's
The stock can accommodate a large 9.6v battery so you don't have to mess around with lipos.
I picked up mine 2nd hand (basically brand new) for £900 with 10 x magazines and a real steel surefire Torchgrip
I've owned most the high end AEG's (TM Recoils, CTW. PTW) and the TW5 is by far the best one I've used.

Re: Systema TW5 owners advice
Thanks gents, this is exactly the kind of genuine owner feedback and opinions that I'm looking for, the mag thing is really not an issue having run gbbrs and real caps quite a bit, I'm a big believer in 'if you can't hit him with 3, why would throwing 50 at him make a difference'

That's about the sum of it.
They sounds great on an 11.1v. That's all I ran in mine.

Re: Systema TW5 owners advice
Youll batter your brushes on an 11.1v battery though, be warned of that. I merked my TW5 swiftly on an 11.1v, so switched to 7.4v shortly after. Little appreciable difference in response.
I liked my TW5 when i had it, but its heavy and very hard to customise in any real capacity. Plus the one thing un-mentioned here is the feed lips on the mags. Much more prone to failure than the M4. And finding genuinely decent mag storage for them can prove a pain. The feed lips and sharpe mag edges shreds the Blue Force Gear pouches swiftly, and the blackhawk ones are ungainly.
Theyre great guns mind.

Re: Systema TW5 owners advice
Although myself I run mostly TM recoils, a number of my friends run Systema or Celcius TW's, and the TW5 seems to be far and away the best of these in all aspects, they must have their down sides, as Fenriz points out, but I haven't had the good fortune to own one as yet, to experience these problems. They're a lovely looking gun, with a great feel and little or nothing in the way of mods needed to achieve great reliability, and again as Fen' says, I would stick to 7.4 Lipos. I'm always "talking" about buying one, (but, talk is cheap, sadly,TW5's aren't) and as for 40 round mags, I often use my GBB MP7 and, like yourself, don't find that much of a problem, in fact it just adds to the realism...A TW5,seems to me, one of the very best and most versatile airsoft guns you can buy..

"This is my rifle, it's just a toy one, there are many like it, they're toy ones too, without it, i'm £250 better off, without me, it gathers dust in the corner, we're just big boys playing soldiers, lets try and remember that" play fair have fun.

Re: Systema TW5 owners advice
I have 2 TW5's and never use them, always end up using my M4 type platforms, through no fault of the TW5's
I really should start using them again

Interesting you say that, because on a previous thread when this question came up, I believe it was tac himself that said the internals were identical

just off the top of my head the outer cylinder is a different shape and the front ECU is completely different.
