whats the best method when cleaning the old cylinder grease of and apply fresh stuff?

Get any rag and wipe the cylinder clean, then apply the grease inside and outside with your finger.

Thats what I do anyway, people have different methods.

ok, reado nline fingers = bad becuase of the natural finger grease deteriorates the cylinder some how :S

I don't know how that is, but if you're concerned about it, use gloves or a cotton bud.

I would say don't use Cotton bud but could be wrong , don't want fibers in there.

nvm all done, classic army cylinder grease is amazing :D so much smoother to pull the cylinder back now in the l96 and it some how sounds better :S lol
