Tm aks74u scope mounting
1 September, 2015, 18:21
Hi all.
Iv used the usual search function on the forum and couldn't find anything to help me solve my issue.
Basically I'd like to fit a scope mount too my tm recoil aks74u and would like to know if anyone makes something for this or if there is something I can do myself
Iv read about lining the scope mount up and drilling the side of the receiver but surely there is a better way around this?
Any advice welcome
Cheers
Dean

Re: Tm aks74u scope mounting
Freedom Art make a scope mount that replaces the rear sight. You can still fold the stock unlike with a side mount. It's not cheap, and not many places sell it, but you don't have many options with this particular gun.

Re: Tm aks74u scope mounting
The above is the only non drilling option.
I have added a siderail to mine, all you have to do is line it up with the marks on the side, and either remove the fake rivet, or make it fit into the rail as I did to lock it off.

Ahh brilliant.
I did eventually find the freedom art rail last night myself too.
That would be cool if you could get some close ups mate.
Thank you both

That's pretty smart.
Did you have to drill any holes or did you tap the holes where the fake rivets were?

Could always look at a railed top cover.

Re: Tm aks74u scope mounting
Do they exist?
If they did that would be good but I also like the authenticity of the side mount and kobra sight

Re: Tm aks74u scope mounting
Drilled and tapped the first two.
There's marks on the body where one should be mounted. And the rearward point is a rivet on the body.
I would take it off, but it's loctited to feck.
