Urgeant help needed please - REF Marushin M1 Carbine!

How do guys,

I'm trying to get into the sport again - yes i have full defence still before anyone flames.

Ive been speaking to a lad referance a Marushin M1 Carbine, its a Single action rifle - which i belive to be the Gen1 - the gen2's having semi auto fuction (?)

Anyway, im not after anything high spec, just somthing useable for field play. first off i want to ask:

Is the marushin Gen1 good out the box? - I.E im not expecting anything major performance wise. i just want to know is it skirmishable as a bolt sniper?

The only upgrades i would be looking at getting would be a new hop rubber and inner barrel combo. I'm assuming they are not compatible with most brands?
