  • Daysacks with plate carriers

Hey guys, just wondering how you guys carry your gas/speed loaders etc with day sacks and body armour on full day/mil sim games. I normally use an aeg so don't have an issue (hicap backups) but I've been using gbbr's lately and thinking about taking one to a full day game, which of course comes with the penalty of needing to carry gas bbs etc.

I have a viper helmet bag which fits everything perfectly and comes with the option of either straps, which get in the way a bit on my armour, but means I can take it off to access the bag when I need it, or molle straps so I can stick in on the back of my pc, but would need a buddy system to refill my mags.

So my question is, what do you guys use, or specifically, which works best on your longer skirmish days? As I obviously don't want to be taking off my pc to reload/fill my mags with gas when I'm in the middle of a game, but I also don't want the straps impeding on my access to my pc- pistol mags, admin pouch with speed loaders etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting dilemma. I suppose it depends on what sort of event you were playing. If it's an event where there will always be others around, I'd say go MOLLE

If it's something like a Stirling event where you could find yourself on your own for an extended period, then straps may be the way

I usually run a PC for a standard skirmish day, but if I'm going to require a pack I switch to a belt rig. Pack straps aren't awkward or uncomfortable and no issues with shoulder-stock interface and no impediment to accessing mags etc; can still quickly and easily get everything in the bag without needing someone else's help and having that awkward "get x for me it's in y section of the bag" "what this one?" "no the lower one, inside that little mesh pocket inside it.. no the other one".

Unless you've got a lot of weight up front and a light pack/hydro, your front plate bag will also ride upwards all the time with a bag that's attached by PALS. It seems like a great all-in-one solution but I've tried a lot of different chets rigs and PCs with integrated hydro and packs over the years and I've settled on separate straps. Might be less of an issue in terms of movement if you're going GBB, but it may still happen and you're still stuck with either taking everything off or constantly badgering your team mates for assistance and I'm not a fan of that personally. Probably better for those who're in a very organised team, but all the time someone's getting stuff out of your bag that's time they're not looking around and able to use their weapon.

Don't put anything on your back that you can't get to.

I use plate carriers and I run gas guns.
I have a small backpack that is "swiffcliped" to my carrier and it holds tools, spare parts, gas/bbs and spare clothing.

I carry 4-8 rifle mags and 4 pistol mags on me. It's weighty but I'm no usain bolt either.

I generally take my time and pick my shots and not shoot willy nilly.
