  • What is the best gas to use?

So I'm planning to buy a Tokyo Marui PX4, but I'm hearing mixed things on what gas to use with it. I'd rather avoid propane if possible as I've heard it will wear the gun down particularly quickly.
Also, how much would I need to buy to last at least one skirmish? I'm planning on running it as a primary so I need to avoid running out mid game.

I use Zero One Pro Gas in most of my TMs. It's the same as Abbey Ultra, which is perfect for plastic pistols. Green Gas/Propane is usually OK in most, but for the longest gun life-span, I stick to the mid-powered stuff personally. A bottle should be enough for a game.

      Actually Green gas is Propane..
If you want your moneys worth on a gas Propane and Madbull adaptor will do the trick.
You can use other gasses like Nuprol, or 144 gas but depending on you keeping a plastic slide or not don't for for stronger gases as it will break your slide.

I use Abbey Predator (Red) and their green maintenance gas for my PX4. Works fine for me.

Mixed reviews tend to be based on climate and maintenance. TMs in hot weather don't suit propane and poor maintenance will exacerbate high pressure risks, but in the typical cold weather of Britannia with reasonable maintenance, you shouldn't see issues ever.

At 70*f regular gg is 90 psi, at the same temp propane is 100-110 psi.

Oh look, its the bi-annual "anything more powerful than 144a makes TM pistols explode" thread

Had TM pistols for years, used propane in them for years, never had one explode.

Maybe if I lived somewhere where it wasnt cold and raining for 90% of the year Id be inclined to believe it might cause issues... however its always cold and miserable in glorious Britannia so you dont need to worry about it

Of course it also depends on what site you play at, some sites dont allow propane because they want you to buy their overpriced "specialist" airsoft gas sorry I mean for "safety reasons". In which case Id go for green gas and make sure to buy it from any other possible retailer apart from them to rub it in their face.

Hello, your get different personal opinions from most people, so try a few. Stick with green gas rather then pure propane it's easier to get and maintain the pistol.

personally I would try a few gases, at the moment I am trying a range of green gases, arm gas, we nuprol, abbey predator, zeroone, protech, and airsoft surgeon, I must say in all my gun airsoft surgeon gas is out performing the rest, but it is quite a bit more money then the others at first when I decided to buy it I thought well I'm paying extra just for the name, but I was wrong is does perform better then all the others I have tried so far.

What I would do though if the TM PX4 was mine, I would get some abbey 144a gas and try it in the gun, if your happy with how it performs in warm weather stick to that gas, then in the winter times use a slightly more potent green gas..

                    Hope this helps.

I have heard froma friend who works in Airsoft repair store, he says try stay away from Propane alone, it will in the long run damage your gun ; its best to use airsoft gases. It will maintain your seals and your gun..
The cheap option might not always be the better one..
