Need some distance! Best DMR?
2 May, 2016, 20:03
hi guys, I’m in the market for some advice.
Want to get a DMR and would prefer one straight out the box that gives the best distance and accuracy. Happy to upgrade at a later time but for now want something that will perform well over distance, but not a spring sniper rifle.
Currently deciding on either:
VFC Umarex HK 417D Sniper Version
Modify XTC-G1 Assault Rifle
H&K Umarex G28 DMR AEG Limited Edition
Would appreciate your thoughts.

What's your price point? The G28 is supposed to be DMR spec out the box with a high price tag to match

Why not buy something and have it pre-ugraded so it arrives with all of the work done? And probably still with a warranty- or is the turn around time the issue?

DMRs are built, not bought. The only gun that will perform even close to DMR standards out of the box is, inevitably:

It's bloody expensive but it's worth every penny, and it's certainly the best choice. You could also consider a RealSword Type 56 (vanilla Type 56 or Type 56-2) with an optic as it's similarly bombproof and very accurate. Of your existing choices:

These are the same gun and the answer for both is 'no f***ing way'. The VFC HK417's gearbox is
notoriously crack-happy
and therefore totally unsuitable for a high-power DMR build. If you're going to build a HK417 DMR, the
only
one to buy is Tokyo Marui's Recoil Shock. Expect to spend a serious amount of money getting one of those up to 400FPS or more.

Never heard of it, which is not a promising start. Looks like any one of the thousands of TM AR-15 AEG clones out there, i.e. nothing special and certainly not DMR-grade out of the box.
