  • Face Protection Conundrum

I've had a lot of different kinds of facial protection I've experimented with. Being keen to only use full face (or if nothing else something to protect the eyes and mouth, want to keep my gnashers), I've come to rely on mesh goggles and a lower face mesh mask. Catch 22 is that they can be finicky bastards to adjust and put a lot of pressure on the face, so here's what I'm looking to do:

-Run a build that protects the face. Sorry ballistic glasses.
-Run a build that looks mildly military plausible. Sorry Skull Masks.
-Run a build that lets me actually look down my scope properly. Sorry full face mesh.
-Run a build that doesn't compress my face into ultra-dense matter. Sorry current build.

Current ideas have circled around locking a lower face mesh mask and upper face ballistic goggles to a FAST style helmet as pictured. This would:
    Protect my whole face
    Look mildly military plausible
Let me look down my scope properly.
Not turn my face into putty.

The issue is that I've seen a lot of those goggles fastened over the fast helmet, but this still places the pressure on the wearers face. If I could find a way to instead have them locked into a fixed position (like pictured with the emerson fast helmet with integrated goggles.) as well as do the same with the lower face mask which is definately the biggest culprit of putting pressure on the face.

If anyone could help me figure this one out, I'd really appreciate it.

You could try a neoprene balaclava with goggles in built I think they are s-l1000.jpg

      Re: Face Protection Conundrum

Last game i played, i went with the set-up below....my favoured mesh goggles + lower face protection.

The mask is made from an IKEA chopping board. Cut from one flat piece, then scored and drilled. It hardly weighs anything and just hangs from the goggles.

      Works for me!

          Re: Face Protection Conundrum

I'd be happy to make one for anyone....
just the mask part of course - you need your own goggles.
It just zip-ties on, as you can see in the pics.

How would £7.00 sound? Including P&P/fees

Anyone interested, just PM me and I'll get onto it.
Turnaround will be about a week, as i might need to pop to IKEA!

          Cheers

All mesh mash need you to bend them to your face.
I find the best way is so it does not touch your nose, pressure should all be on your cheeks

Give you a B+ for ingenuity. Sensei mask lower trimmed up to the goggle profile works well, bit of a better profile.

                  Re: Face Protection Conundrum

This is what I done with mine.

Revision desert locust goggles and nuprol face mask (v1)
Use heat gun to heat the glue that came under the material on the face mask, shape and cut the mask. Use glue to replace material on mask.
Cable tie mask to various points on around goggles.

Should end up with something like this. One strap from the goggles holds it all in place.
