Ok so I like airsofting. So now I need to buy a gun.

So been airsofting a couple of times since my first post and I'm really liking it. It's like doing FISH minus the push ups for fuckig around.
Anyway I will need (more want then need) my own airsoft gun. I like the Sig 556 Commando, Firehawk and other CQB oriented assault rifle type guns. However really leaning towards the Sig.
What is your advice?

Get ukara regd, buy a gun, then another, then gear, and a pistol, then a shotgun, a grenade or 5, then upgrades, then really piss your other half off when you kill her Hoover with bbs.

Something tells me that this isn't advice but a chapter from your diary...

Are you 18+?
Have you been to the same site or different sites to play?
Are you planning on being UKARA registered?

In order of questions asked.
Yes
Yes
And no but to my knowledge you don't need UKARA to buy second hand.

You do need ukara to buy second hand, it's the sellers responsibility to make sure he's selling to an airsofter or someone who had a genuine use for the RIF I.E film maker

You still need a UKARA in theory, although this isn't always followed. Also you are still in breach of the VCRA which is not good for both parties.

More drivel!
You don't need UKARA registration to purchase, new or second hand. However, a retailer who is affiliated to UKARA may choose to only sell to UKARA registered players
OP, you are correct that you don't need UKARA registration to buy second hand, but anyone selling to you needs to satisfy themselves you are an airsofter, so how are you going to prove this?

I have photos of me and friends going airsofting and I will explain that I am purchasing this firearm to continue my interest in airsofting. I am not going to lie and say I have been for years or anything of that nature, I will just be honest. If the seller is not satisfied by that the that is his or her choice to not sell it to me and I respect that. I will then buy off someone else.
Also many of the people I go with have UKARA. So I feel it may be a needless expense.

Re: Ok so I like airsofting. So now I need to buy a gun.
Get yourself UKARA registered & you'll have a far wider choice of where to buy from.
Zero One offer some great deals & buying from a UKARA registered retailer you have their back up if there are any problems. You
can
buy second hand but there are no guarantees on what you are buying. Has it been cared for properly? has it been regularly serviced? Have any upgrades been installed correctly? You could easily part with your cash & end up with a lemon, it happens.
There are no short cuts.

As suggested by others, just get yourself UKARA registered and save your self a headache every time you buy a RIF, new or old.

It depends where you facilitate it. The site I did mine through charged a £10 'admin' fee (for the stamp and envelope).
