Actually hunter I have a friend that uses a bar10 and it did in fact out range my old tm vsr....

I didn't mention range did i?

I said the best stock rifle. Since when does more range = a better gun.

The bar-10 usually comes in at about 400 fps stock. With the stock spring it will likely break the sears. As they are pot metal.

I agree. But considering the price for new sears I don't see that as a problem when you consider the saving from a TM :P

how about an analogy.

the vsr10 is like a perfectly tuned Ferrari - the bar10 is a Honda civic type R.

now the Honda is good for the money but we all know fine well which one is going to be better.

the vsr is made with higher tolerances - better materials - and has stood the test of time - and is always recommended over other sniper rifles.

I do agree a little bit in that retrospect. But i'd rather a much better trigger mech, hop unit, QC control, a decent stock over something that looks like it's been build by a 5 year old with a piece of sandpaper as his only tool. Mine was literally that bad. I had to spend alot of ££ on it to make it skirmish ready. I'd have saved money in the long run if i had just gone out and bought a TM right away

Tbh guys all i really wanted to know was bar 10 or vsr an got aload or aggerssive resposed that where really uncalled for just because it gets on your nerves dosnt mean to say you have to rant on and on.
Well it seems to me the tm vsr is better and that is all i wanted to know!!!!!!
The rest about the springs and things i didnt know as yes i have only started airsoft recently and wanted to try sniping!!

Yeah, the Honda, it's about 100 times more reliable and doesn't cost you the price of an all inclusive holiday for 2 to Barbados every 3000 miles

If we're talking about reliability, don't try compare something to a Honda in a positive way :p

not at all mate - I'm sorry if my posts come across as aggressive, that was not my intention.

we old dogs just get a bit frustrated when there is a wealth of information about subjects like this one, here on the forum.


the vsr is the better gun. - it is as simple as the saying "you get what you pay for"


I do strongly suggest you do a bit more research on the subject before you buy though. - I have tried to make a reasonable guide for new snipers in the sniper tactics thread. if nothing else it is a good place to start - there are lots of useful links in there too.

my advice would be to get the tm vsr - and keep it stock for your first few outings as a sniper.

doing this means you are not relying on the increased power to get kills at range - FYI my vsr runs at the stock power (and I bought it second hand so it will be less than that now) - and I can get 50m kills. sometimes further.
this means you can work on your field craft - ie being a sneaky bastard.

good field craft + a good shooter = a right PITA for the opfor
