I've been using my Glock 17 on propane for the past few months now and I've had no problems with it at all no abnormal wear that I can see, just keep the seals lubed with silicone. I run my mags on 134a at the end of every game when I get home just to keep them tip top. Dont see why a 1911 will be any different.
