  • Spraying a second hand gun.

    Im looking at getting a second hand gun which is most proberly going to be beat to death.

    Now who thinks spraying a gun (back to its original black) with look naff?
    I have never seen a sprayed gun before, so i wouldn't know.
    The gun would most proberly be scratched from skirmish, hence spraying.

    Also another question is on the MP5's for example they have little red lines on the selector switch, any advice on how to keep them red? little bit tricky i guess.

    Has anyone got any tips on spraying a gun black? Any reconmendations on paint make, techniques, what not to do from your experiences?
    I really don't want to mess it up after spending lots of money on a gun.

    Sorry for all the question on one thread but thanks in advance.
    (The guns im looking at are M4A1 & MP5 SD6)

      just take your time dont try and do it all in one go, it will take maybe 3 light coats so you dont end up with drip marks etc, take it you have ukara though?

        That crayon idear is quite a good one. Never thought of that.

        As for UKARA, yeah course i am. Have been for a year now. I got to woodlands groundzero once a month.

            My M4 is part desert camo and looks the b****cks so its more down to the spray job rather than the colour scheme. As Ben said take your time. Personally i like to see a worn gun thats why i sprayed mine then went at it with scotch brite. Adds to a reallistic look.

              Tamiya do low tack masking tape. cut the pieces you want to size and use that when the paints dry peel off simples. They do it in all sorts of widths too.

                if plastic parts then prime that by using a plastic primer, theres also a chemical solution that you rub the plastic with that gets all the silcone out, as painting over plastic will just peel off, pants.

                red scotch metal parts,{key them up}

                de-grease using a bodyshop panel degreaser ,apply spray
