your thoughts and opinions!
2 August, 2010, 13:06
My guns have finally clapped out on me. Im looking for help/advice from you all! so my M4 CQB (previously G&G GR16 blow back) piston stripped, gears stripped, mosfet dead, bushing ruined ect ect..
Now Im looking for a new gun and/or gear box to replace the mess of my M4.
I have about £220 to spend.
Im trying to look for something around the MP5 lines, any ideas on whats the 'best' one? Ive been looking at the CA B&T ones.. but Im not sure if there is any other strong contenders.
Or should I try and salvage my M4?
I would it to be rock solid. But Im not sure how tech strong I am with gear boxes, I mean I have had a fair new apart but this one proved to be a B**ch to sort so Im starting to give up hence asking about a new gun
soo new gun or tackle my gear box! lets see what you think...

Re: your thoughts and opinions!
Well, a whole new GB ready assembled will be way short of £220... It's unlikely that you will have stripped the poston, gears etc all in one go... Most guns stop working after one thing fails.
THe CA B&T stuff is great though,,,

Re: your thoughts and opinions!
You could always get a cyma or Dboys gear box to fix your M4. Or one of the new Element ones.
Then, Bob's your tea pot...More money to spend on a CA B and T MP5.
What size shims are in the gear box.

Wow... You've done a number on that one then...
Well, for less than £250, you might well struggle to get a decent primary weapon for all round use.
The G&G blow back system isn't too good from what I hear, and replacing the blow back box and disabling the moving bolt cover should be simple. You could replace it with a Systema gearbox for about £200... Not that I'd generally recommend that brand necessarily though...

Re: your thoughts and opinions!
the gun would still be solid, even if you do put a chinese GB into it....they are quite hard to break, as long as you dont dry fire endlessly, and you would still have spare cash to buy a backup primary

Sorry maybe I didn't make my self quite clear...I knew what I was trying to say...
Use a cheaper brand to repair your M16 sell it as non blow back. you should then have over £300 for a nice new primary.

Re: your thoughts and opinions!
You don't have to get ACM stuff... Like I said, you could get a systema AEG box for about £200, you can probably pick up a TM one for way less.
That's just if you don't want to build it yourself. Buying the parts to fix yours should be cheaper still. To take all the guesswork out, you could even pick up a Modify gearset, no shimming, no nothing, just bolt it in and blast away. I think they even run on separate bushings, so that won't even matter.
If you are going to drop £250 on a new gun, wouldn't mind an AR. G&P. No question in my mind at all.

Re: your thoughts and opinions!
Indeed they do, and its still the same brilliant quality gearboxes they have in their metal guns too. So if your Fps spring is too high or low for your likes then you can simply buy another upper gearbox and swap them over to your hearts desire instead of buying a more powerful gun. so saves alot of £££
