WE GBB AK - inserting mags?!

Hi all,

I recently got my hands on a gas blowback WE AK, PMC variant.
I was hoping someone could shed some light on a strange peculiarity that it has.

As far as I can tell... it is simply not possible to insert a magazine unless the slide is back... is this the case?!?
This is unlike a real AK and essentially makes fast/tactical reloads impossible...
And obviously the slide on AK's doesn't lock back after the last round. I can only lock it back manually with the safety lever.

Or am I missing something?

If anyone can shed some light on this, that would be most appreciated!

I never had that issue and have owned the 47, 74 and SVC.

Away from UK until June / July. Happy to still buy but sales will be harder due to not being home.
