VSR 10 Upgrading confusion

Hello I want to get a VSR 10 and upgrade it so its a true sniper, but I heard somewhere when you upgrade the spring you need to reinforce the rest of the gun. But I also heard you can cut a corner with all of this and just get a zero trigger. Also is it just worth getting a JG Bar 10 and upgrading that
