Another note: if you do go opening up and fiddling around with that V1 box, be bloody careful, if you lose a piece or break a piece, good luck finding a replacement!

As said, your biggest issue is the gearbox. There are few upgrades for it. And as said the motor (EG560), whilst being very generously coiled and so giving a nice ROF, has pretty weak magnets and not a lot of torque. Even with just an upgrade to a 1J spring (as I had with my first one), the ROF slowed down quite considerably. With an M100 it'll struggle and you'll be looking at a much lower motor life.

In all honesty, if you're set with the FAMAS for a base gun (and that makes you awesome in my book), I would go with trying to get a V6 in there. You've got a lot of flailing around with tools and hacking ahead of you.
