P90 + Boxmags
5 January, 2011, 11:56
Hello all,
im looking at starting another small project of sorts:
p90, nitro front and box mag conversion
how good are the box mag converters ( so they take m4 mags i believe ) do these feed well ?
any ones thoughts on a p90 - TM would be much appreciated.

Re: P90 + Boxmags
I have a laylax box mag and the only problem i have is sometimes you may think it's in your gun but it can be just hovering over it. You must push it in with some force and wait for that "click". if it doesn't click, it's not in properly and will not feed.

Re: P90 + Boxmags
(Also the nitro kit is incredible for the money, very cheap yet makes the p90 look so nice
)

Jake - is that the mag or actual box mag unit you were talking about?

Re: P90 + Boxmags
the box unit mate, it needs a good slap to seat correctally in the weapon, but it does look ugly as sin.
and feeding is all down to the m4 magazine you use because the boxmag just fills up the m4 magazine and then allows the m4 magazine to push bbs down a tube and into the weapon
trading WE M16A1 for CYMA or RS SVD with PSOP

Re: P90 + Boxmags
As I understand it, it operates as a large high cap - the box provides the BB reservoir, and the M4 mag provides the mechanics.

spot on fella
i use the box mag for the P90 in woodland (normal mags for CQB), would deffo recommend them, just a couple of points:
(1) altho you don't have to take the boxmag part off the gun, at my local site, you have to remove mags in the safezone. if you just take out the hi-cap mag, BB's can just fall thru all over the place.
(2) to make winding easier, i used a hi-cap with a key winder option, then adapted a key to a little wheel, to make winding v easy. i'll post up a pic if i get chance
they are ugly, but the benefits out-weigh it

Re: P90 + Boxmags
assuming you meant, how did i make the winding wheel? - simples....
the winding keys i had were plastic, so just cut a piece off to length (to fit in the mag with enough to go in the 'wheel'
drilled out the centre of the wheel - from the M4 BUIS (might've been a carry handle?)
i drilled it a bit smaller to wedge in the key part + glued it
done
benefits of it are just the ease of winding really. instead of the little toothed wheel, which are sometimes fiddly and slow, you can v easily rotate the wheel.
just tested it....one complete turn of wheel = 7 turns with the normal winder
so basically, it's about x7 faster
all good
