    hello
im looking to buy a AEG as i just got in to airsofting, but the problem is i am on a very tight budget and dont really want to spend more than £70, firstly as i not sure how often and much i will be doing it as im only starting out and secondly i have other hobbies.

i know for this price range im not going to get much, but i have seen the double eagle m805a and this seems to be a good gun for the money as it is meant to have a metal gearbox and is meant to shoot up to around 280 fps with 0.2g, which is pretty good for that price,

can anyone tell me whether this gun does actually have a metal gearbox and shoot 280fps, and also can you buy spare mags for it or does it take other m4 mags

and finally if not this gun what gun would people suggest i get on a tight budget

    thanks

Try and get a second hand ICS M4 or something, a lot better value for money.

Yup, the only thing in that price range that's half decent is a shotgun (or pistol)

There isn't much of anything in your price range. You be better off saving up and getting something for the £100 mark

or why not just rent for a bit longer, see if you really like the game first

+1 to kejot; don't buy your own gun if you're still not sure you like it!

                  Re: budget gun

My advice, in your case, would be to wait, rent a few times, and see how you like it.

As others have said, wait til you have £100ish to spend, and buy a used AEG. If you're 18, wait til you get your UKARA defence and get a realistic gun. Steer away from low-powered AEGs, like the one you mentioned. They won't compete in a proper airsoft skirmish, and you'll only have to buy another, more powerful weapon later on.

With a bit of hunting and some patience, you can pick up a fair starter gun package for around £70

That said, If you're going to be playing Close Quater Battle, then go for a DE shotgun, they can be picked up for around your price range.

Indeed, as we already said, a budget of around £100 will get you something if you keep an eye on the classifieds. I know they're Marmite, but if you like them, this would make an excellent starter:

                        Re: budget gun

saving a bit more will certainly give you more options

but i know that renting can sometimes feel like throwing good 'gun money' away! altho frustrating maybe, it really can be the best option to get a few games under your belt and have a nose round to see what gun you like the look of

saying that, if you scour the 'AEG's for sale' section, you might find something OK in your price range. one of my first guns, JG Spetsnaz, was only £65 and it's never let me down. always comes along as my trusty back-up gun

comes down to luck at that price - you might get something good, might be crap

                            Re: budget gun

I was on a pretty strict budget when I started so hired the first few times I went, but just remember that hiring 3 times is pretty much the cost of a reasonable budget gun (full hire package at my site is £45) so I scraped up every penny and bought a gun as soon as I could and made that money back within a few months of not hiring. Even if you end up not liking Airsoft as much as you thought, you can re-sell the gun and you are no worse off. Try and save/beg/borrow £100 plus and get yourself sorted. You don't need to spend a fortune on gear to start either, some safety specs or mask is all you need for starters, plenty of guys are just in jeans etc. at my site.
