G&G GR16 M4 gearbox

Can anyone tell me what version gearbox is inside please? I have the clear bodied version which i brought at the end of last year.

version 2, but if its the blowback one then theres an extra mechanism on top, other v2 gearboxes will fit the receiver, but other top receivers wont fit the g&g v2

It is the blowback version. I was looking at internal upgrades, im not sure how the blow back works but is there any internal upgrades that would stop theblow back working? I like having it and want to keep it.

I'v got one that I took apart!
The cylinder is the only part that is essential for the blowback.
I would recomend a new piston head, and new brushings. The gears are pretty good and don't need touching, same goes for the motor.
You might want to check the wiring though, allot of them have very poor solder.
If you don't want to faff about in there (The blowback is not easy to take apart, it's very easy to bend the blowback bolt thing), get a new tightbore barrel, and new hop up rubber (the hop up itself is very good!)

the only thing you'd need to keep is the piston as it has a whole in the top to divert the air into the blowback. Iv recently had my exact same gun open and the internals are very nice

Thanks all. Ive already got a tightbore fitted. Im hoping next to fit a metal body and folding stock before adding a lipo and active breaking mosfet. I will add a piston head and pushings to my shopping list along with a new hop up rubber and see how it goes from there. Id check the wiring out of habit anyway and possibly rewire when i add the mosfet.

a metal body will be hard to comeby for the blowback version, youll be looking for a toptech one, ive never seen them second hand anyway. In regards to the internals, the gears are good quality, a nice piston wouldnt go a miss, and also a hop rubber, the motors are quite poo also, a clone magnum will give nice trigger response.

Realisticaly thinking about it i would prefer a metal body without blowback to a plastic body with blowback so im happy to loose it.

Would a M120 high tourqe work oky?

yes mate, i get the body part, but i actually liked my blowback lol, but each to their own, and i reccomend a shs ultra high torque motor
