If you are under the age of 18, then you cannot buy a gun.
If you would like your parent/guardian to get you a gun as a gift, they can get a Two-Tone gun. Or they can play 3 games, in no less that two months and get UKARA which will enable them to buy RIF's

with UKARA aside, you need to give us a bit more info on your tastes. For instance tell us your likes/dislikes i.e. submachine guns? rifles? And what's your build? Something heavy like a light machine gun would be hard to wield for a small person, yet something tiny like an mp5 can be troublesome for a big guy (i had that problem).

I suggest not going for a sniper/bolt-action, yet anyway, I'd wait a while if I were you before going down that road. People that come from hunting (crossbows, shotguns and scoped air rifles) will be disapointed with the preformance of airsoft rifles. Sniper weapons are quite a specialised taste and I recomment "trying before buying". Just ask someone at a site if you can take a shot.

As for brands, you can't go wrong with Tokyo Marui (TM). More expensive than the clone brands, but have brilliant reliability (never had to open mine up since i got my G3 and it's getting on for 5/6 years old). Chinese clones (chinasoft or cheapsoft) can be great for first timers, the inexperienced and those on a tight budget. But can also have problems with quality control due to their ultilsation of substandard parts, however this isn't as true anymore, with JG (Jing Gong) and Kalash (amongst others) quickly catching up to TM.

Higher end AEGs come with a high price tag, but are clad in lovely full metal bodies and nice little additions and the bigger price is most definately worth it. However, they aren't perfect either and I would deffinately not recommend buying anything G&G, G&P, Systema or anything of high-quality until you're absolutely certain that you want to dish-out the cash on the hobby.

      My recommendations is:

      Get a Tokyo Marui AEG you feel comfortable with;
      acompanied by some cheap surplus DPM and a pair of black boots;
buy a few spare mags and something to hold them like a chest rig (although pockets will do)/

If you play with a mate, you may want to go halfs on a charger and a few spare batteries with some BBs. Other essentials include a tool set (G&P make an exellent toolkit with attachments for most screwhead types), silicon oil and a speed loader.

Getting a back-up aeg is always a good idea too, but more than two when youre starting out if rediculous.

Anyway, I know I've gone waaaay off topic, but I hope it helps. You never know, maybe another new player may get some useful intel

A few tips for beginners, especially for younger players:

        Don't buy a sniper.

        Don't spend too much.

Look at some budget guns, like cyma, JG and AGM.

Choose VERY carefully. Everyone will tell you, theres nothing worse then buying a gun and regreting it afterwards.

And as for twotones, i'm assuming you'll need one. Don't be put off by them. Other players will hate the gun, but not the player.

        good luck

Remember Kids Its not call of duty :P Joking aside what trashed fry and owain have said is great advice. JG is your best bet if your on a budget with some dpms from your local surplus or market. A Good Pair of boots is whats needed also

Re: New player and need info

I to echo what the other guys have said, for your first gun i can personally recommend either a AGM M4a1 carbine a superb gun out of the box or a cyma AK47/74 ive never owned the latter but ive got mates that have and they swear by theirs.

I would advise resisting the temptation to buy second hand at first it can seam like a good thing and a way to save pennies but it can also land the experienced in hot water with a pile of junk. Ive got a good friend who bought what he thought was a good gun, but it was a real lemon it worked for all of half an hour then literally self destructed. I opened it up to find the gearbox had smashed itself to pieces, everything inside was in bits or damaged beyond repair in some way. Ok the majority of peps on here are gonna be genuine but that doesn't help you if it all goes tits up. At least with a new gun you've got a bit of come back. Upgrade your gun by all means but leave it for a bit and get to know the game first. It saddens me to see a noob with a broken gun that they were promised was " a great gun" it can ruin your day or even put you off the game.

fortunately the airsofting community as a whole are a pretty cool bunch and will advise, help or even lend you 1 of theres if yours breaks (which they do from time to time) and you can usually continue with the days fun.

as for 2 tones yeah there not ideal but hey its not the colour of the gun that matters its how you play with it. weve pretty much all been there so nobody really cares.

and FFS dont buy a sniper as your first gun, they may seam like a good idea in the shop but ive known noobs not to get a single kill all day, wait until youve got a bit of experience first before you go down that route.

oh yeah 1 other thing welcome to the family mate and happy gaming! :D:D

              I think They've covered it all ! ...
JG Make Good Guns i'd settle with them if your not going for a Tokyo Marui (TM)
They have a Full metal HK 416 for about £180 :O ... Good Luck
and welcome to a great sport

See what did I tell you? (I'm a good friend of alex323s and you guys have just echoed everything I've been saying.)
I'll let him decide what gun he wants but I have hinted towards the JG M4 CQB, I was wondering what you guys thought of that being his first gun?

Not 36' though unless he gets a magwell ?
Any JG would probs do the job TBF .

I dont think he likes the 416, and besides is WAY to hot for our local site, 400fps+ isnt it? But then again, I'll let him decide. its his money and his gun.

Re: New player and need info

Thats why I recommended a TM, since its site friendly out of the box. But they are more expensive and the ABS externals might put some people off.

EDIT: As for a specific gun? Its totally up to him, I suggest he uses site rental guns or a mate's gun until he finds his match, theres nothing worse than buying your first weapon and not being "comfortable" with it. Its not all about presentation or quality, the way it feels is my main concern with a new purchase. Especially true when moving to a different branch of AEGs, i.e. from G36s to M4/M16s is a huge difference, the mags are different, controls, layout, width.. all that contributes.

So try as many as you can before you set your mind to one perticular model

Can't really go wrong with the JG's .. (love the G36 myself.. it might be cheap and plastic bodied but it's sturdy as hell and wont break without some major mistreatment).

The AA SA80 is a good quality rifle though the hop isn't the best and the range as stock isn't fantastic but it's usable.

AGM/Dboys Scars are also pretty cheap M4 alternatives and take M4 mags, but the stocks are notoriously weak and prone to breakage if so much as breathed on heavily... Hops unit on the AGM is also useless as stock and needs a little modification before it'll actually work (but when it does, it's fantastic).

One issue with the clones (AGM/JG/DBoys etc etc) is that the FPS out of the box can vary wildly, I was lucky with my G36.. was 345fps as stock.. but my AGM Scar was rocking 450fps and needed downgrading before it could be used to skirmish (though the retailer I bought it from did downgrade and post it to me free after I bought it in thier store).
