M4 Stock and Tube
19 June, 2011, 16:13
Hi all
i have an ICS M4 with a Solid stock but i am looking to change it to an adjustable stock.
Is this as simple as just changing the externals or will i need a stock tube as well?
Anyone one know where i can get one for cheap?
Many Thanks

Re: M4 Stock and Tube
Depending on your model, you may or may not have to purchase a retractable stock adapter to fit on the rear of the receiver, like this one:
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=3404
(looks like this)
If your rifle already has one mounted, simply purchase the stock and stock tube.
The ICS stock package, (like this one on Zero One:
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=3384
) comes with both the tube and the stock so it should fit with no issues once screwed on.
Other brands of stock tube will fit, but will require either the stock tube or the stock adaptor to be filed down to fit onto the ICS.
Finally, be aware that if you're currently using a full stock for your battery you'll need to rewire your gearbox and battery wiring to the front if you switch to a bog-standard retractable stock, which involves opening up the gearbox and rejigging the wires through the front. Be prepared to do this or have someone else do it for you.
The only other way to bypass this is to get a crane stock. ICS make a model (
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=4911
) that should give you the full benefit of a retractable stock along with the versatility of a larger battery, which also allows for a RIS to be mounted if need be. Be aware that batteries are sold separately, and the stock ONLY accepts proprietary ICS crane stock batteries like this one
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=4912
Finally, the only retailer in the known universe is, of course, Zero One. Failing that, check the classifieds here. Make a request if you can't find anything.
