Importing privately from an EU country?
8 July, 2011, 00:59
Hi,
Does anyone know the specifics on the possibility of a purchase or trade of a RIF privately between two people in different EU countries?
I have been offered a chance to purchase a RIF from a skirmisher in the Czech Republic and am wondering about the legality of the sale.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Importing privately from an EU country?
The sale would be governed by Czech law.
Importing it into the UK is another matter. You need to have a defence or HMC will stop it, just like any other RIF import.

Re: Importing privately from an EU country?
it might get stopped just like anything else. However you will be exempt from paying any import tax as it is an eu country

One thing to consider is what if something goes wrong?
You will have zero comeback, either via consumer rights or the police if there is anything untoward etc.

Re: Importing privately from an EU country?
as long as you have a defence to import and there`s nothing stopping the guy letting it leave his country then its dandy just get him to attach one of them disclaimer type forms to the package that states your site membership number and all that junk you know like the form ups or who ever make you fill out if you dont do one with an Asian company when you import
