g&p m16 hop unit replacement?
15 July, 2011, 17:19
hey guys n gals,
my classic army hop unit has started to unwind when setting the hop unit up so i get one good shot and the hop unit unwinds to no hop and wanted to know whether the above would make for a good replacement from the ca metal one?

The G&P hop units are not that highly rated.
I will be replacing my M4 hop up with a Madbull Ultimate Hop up shortly.

i thought about one of those but if you dont have a madbull barrel you have to cut down/ mod the hop rubber so you can get the barrel in.

G+P are fine if you have a G+P nozzle. Try putting a couple of shims behind the hop wheel, tightens up nicley and at no cost!

Madbull Unit is the best for sticking to where you put it. Worst case you need to remove 1-2mm of the end of the hop rubber. Which is a scissors job anyway

Re: g&p m16 hop unit replacement?
They can be a bit fiddly to sort. I am in the process of fitting one to one of my guns now.
But once sorted they are brilliant. I took mine out again tonight and looked into the feed tube...The one I have is slightly triangular. Deffo not round. A little disconserting.
With a tight bore and the madbull Blue rubber the G and P hop up was still quite loose and massive air leaks. So I would suggest something better than the G and P.
Gun tech.

As with Midas, I don't rate the G&P unit at all. It was constant FPS, but low. Nice stable leak, lol!

Re: g&p m16 hop unit replacement?
I'd go with the prometheus hop chamber actually. The madbull unit is good but it's a bit over-engineered and can be a real PITA if it decides to disagree with something.

Re: g&p m16 hop unit replacement?
Hmm. I got a G&P hop with a receiver kit. Is it worth using it, or should I just transfer the G&G hop/barrel assembly from the donor gun?

Re: g&p m16 hop unit replacement?
Might not be too much in it.
Not convinced about the Guarder unit, looks the same flawed design as the rest to me. The Madbull and Prommy ones only ones I know that have a different design.
