Will Star m249's accept normal stanag mags?

    Will Star m249's accept normal stanag mags?

    as title says, just wondering if the star M249 will accept normal m4 style mags or will they just work with their own box mags?

    Nope. Only the A&K one can take normal stanag mags.

        ALL M249's should take Stanag mags, i've not found one that doesn't yet.

              If you read my post you'll see that it says that they should take stanag mags, i then stated that i'd not found one that didn't takes stanag mags, which i haven't.

              Sarcasm from other players? Not sure why its required.

                Well your post implied that the Star would take Stanag mags... lol.

                Anyway dont want to clog the thread!

                I believe the Star/Ares M249 has battery leads coming out of the stanag magwell on the side, hence why you cant.

                It is a shame, as as you said Ratty, all M249s should be able to use stanag mags.

                  cheers for all the replies lads, does that mean also that the mags are propietary? or can any box mags be used?

                    No, stick to Star mags mate. The CA/ G&P/ A&K mags won't fit

                      bob on, cheers lads, got one coming with an iffy mag s'only reason i asked, but no doubt abit of tinkering, some electrical tape & alot of swearing will sort it all out
