Bawbag - motorola radio how to?
28 July, 2011, 19:08
Folks,
I've made two videos that are on youtube that may help new players or members.
The first one is a short guide to store channels in and a "how to" guide on the motorola gp68 using it licence free PMR 446
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROJGB...layer_embedded
also - a video on how to make tactical bawbags - great way to carry your BB's in the field without you sounding like santa

Re: Bawbag - motorola radio how to?
Great tutorial very clear, bit sick of seeing tutorials were the maker thinks you can see what they are doing in a dark room away from their poor quality cameria :D

Re: Bawbag - motorola radio how to?
Hi Billy,
I liked the video; very straight forward.
However, I think it's misleading in places: like the frequencies you used will work, but are not the centre frequencies for PMR446. Channel 4, for example, is 446.04375. The GP68 cannot achieve the right step size to match this exactly and using the rounded up version can cause some problems at the edge of it's range.
Also, the GP68 can transmit at either 4w or 1w on low power mode. To qualify for PMR446 licence free usage, a unit must be 500mw max.
Not trying to be funny or anything, but I think it should be said.

Re: Bawbag - motorola radio how to?
Good point.
The motorola will go onto 12.5 step size and not 6.25 step size as needed for PMR446. I was just showing how to use the radio for airsofters. Many airsofters use motorola gp68's and its a guide how to install the pmr channels on that radio only.
People will buy this raido from ebay as its a cheap radio for airsofting. My guide isn't to go into detail about how radios work, the legallity of the radios and frequencies used that should be re-searched by the user, my guide is basically a phyisical "push the button" type guide.
if that make sence?
I've added the above concerns you've made in the comments section in the youtube video.
thanks again billy

Re: Bawbag - motorola radio how to?
Analogue PMR uses eight FM channels separated by 12.5 kHz from each other. Per regulation, maximum power, like FRS, is 500 mW ERP and equipment must be handheld with a fixed antenna. CTCSS is usually used, with more upmarket models also featuring DCS.
PMR Channel Frequency (MHz)
1 446.00625
2 446.01875
3 446.03125
4 446.04375
5 446.05625
6 446.06875
7 446.08125
8 446.09375
dPMR446 uses sixteen digital voice at 3.6 kbit/s and 4-Level FSK modulation channels separated by 6.25 kHz from each other.[5] These overlap with DMR Tier I channels.[6]
dPMR446 Channel Frequency (MHz)
1 446.103125
2 446.109375
3 446.115625
4 446.121875
5 446.128125
6 446.134375
7 446.140625
8 446.146875
9 446.153125

12 446.171875
13 446.178125
