FPS - Spring
31 July, 2011, 22:49
Hi guys,
I was talking to the guys at my site about upgrading the G&G GR25: what spring will have have to buy to upgrade to get the FPS up to about 410? And will I need any other upgrades?
Cheers,
Ecullen

Re: FPS - Spring
If you locking semi, might aswell push the FPS to the site limit then run heavier ammo.
You going to want a stronger spring to start, around the M120 mark. Probably will find motor will struggle at that point, so you'll want a torque motor and a decent battery pack to get it moving.
That would be the minimum normally

Re: FPS - Spring
My site limit is 420 for semi auto only AEG's. So do I still need the same spring?

Yes you need the stronger spring too, the motor has to be stronger to pull the stronger spring back.
Got a lot of time for the g&g sr25, thats the only one that comes locked semi from standard i believe..

Re: FPS - Spring
Yep, so can you recommend a spring and motor please?
And sorry for all the questions, I've never 'upgraded' a gun before.

Re: FPS - Spring
It's all a bit of guess work, as it will differ between set ups.
First thing to point out, your locked semi 420fps DMR is not going to go much (if any) further than a 350fps fully auto. So if you think you'll be picking people off from afar when you out of their range.... going to be disappointed!
Spring wise, the M120 by most brands, or the Guarder SP110 should get you in the right ball park area. Motor, supposedly the SHS torque motor is very good. Might be getting one myself - for £25, can't go too wrong!

Re: FPS - Spring
My SR25 runs on a 120% (yes percent spring)spring and that kicks out 420 on the nose, but that is a longer gearbox, the spring is supposed to give about 400, so yet again I have another gun that breaks the laws of physics.:D

Re: FPS - Spring
Regarding the motor - do I go for the short or long type?

Re: FPS - Spring
Would presume it is "long" on that model.
Easiest thing to do is take it out and have a look

Re: FPS - Spring
(P.S) You checked your FPS already. Apparently they come stock around 400 anyway?!

Re: FPS - Spring
GR25 should already have a good motor in it, it has a high torque motor as standard, I use my SR25 with a standard A&K motor and that double taps all day long, I thing the G&G version has a long shaft motor with a standard V2 box.

Re: FPS - Spring
I haven't actually got the GR yet, but from the place I'm getting it it says; 260-280 FPS, which must be wrong?
On other websites it say around 330 FPS
(I'll be getting the GR hopefully within the next week!) :D
