L96 or VSR?
18 August, 2011, 15:36
Hi guys, after having my l96 im thinking that this isnt the gun for me.
Im looking to swap for another sniper, but im unsure on which one...
TM VSR
Laylax (PSS10) 6.03mm Inner Barrel (430mm)
Laylax (PSS10) Hop-Up Unit for VSR Series
Laylax (PSS10) Zero Trigger with Piston
Laylax (PSS10) Cylinder Head
Or keep my L96 and add following upgrades.
MAUSER L96
Laylax (PSS96) Cylinder Head
Laylax (PSS96) Zero Trigger for L96 (Black)
Laylax (PSS96) Piston
(I already have the Mauser, the parts listed are based on my desired upgrades)
How much would i be looking for with the TM? second hand.

Re: L96 or VSR?
purely on cost because you have the L96 already i said L96.
However if money isnt a problem, VSR all the way.

Yeah, but isn't the VSR easier to carry? I find that the l96 is more of a stationary gun. Well, it was designed for long distance usage, but when compared to the VSR it looks way lighter.
If i am to stay with the '96 any ideas for a side arm + small smg
I was going for VSR, M92 and MP5K.

Even if it is crap?
Would you buy a Ford/Rover over an Audi/VW/BMW?

Re: L96 or VSR?
I do say old chap. I would opt for the VSR. Preferably upgraded. As said before, if money isn't an issue the VSR is your best bet old chap. But a must have are the upgrades, A TK twist barrel would be good if your shootibng at around 330-350fps(wink wink) I'm hopping to be getting the VSR latter this year. As for a side arm the MP5K as you mentioned is very suitable as its small and lightweight. Good luck with your decision old boy.

Re: L96 or VSR?
I'd sell the L96 and get a gas rifle.

Depends if you want to go stationary Sniper keep your L96, but if you want to move around alot i suggest on getting the VSR.

Re: L96 or VSR?
I've read this at arnies and I think it should be put and here.
quote name='The Bushman'
Too many people ask these questions time and time again... which is best... you tell them VSR but they don't like the look of it, so keep asking about L96 rifles and other obsolete designs too. I have a tanaka and its great, but not as good as my VSR10. It costs way too much to get a fieldable tanaka these days imo.
I suggest your first bolt action should be a spring rifle. Gas is more esoteric and for dedicated sniper nerds imo.
The answer to "WOT AM BEZT SNIPER?" is VSR10 (BAR10 is also good for those on a budget, but threads can strip if you are not careful).
The idea of sniping is not to be seen, so who cares what it looks like.
Buy a VSR10 or BAR10.

Re: L96 or VSR?
VSR, as it has hop-up improvements and a better barrel, wheras these were not on your list of upgrades for the l96

Re: L96 or VSR?
Thanks for the response guys. Im really stuck in the middle. I don't think funding is going to go good starting from the start. I think it would be cheaper to keep the l96 with the TBB and PDI hopup, and add, PDI/LAYLAX trigger, cylinder, cylinder head and piston as opposed to buying a VSR with the upgrades already installed.
Just a quick question.. If I were to get the l96 upgraded with the laylax trigger, piston, cylinder, cylinder head. Would it be easy to sell and buy a upgraded vrs for around the same price?
Thanks!
