Identification of some gear?
19 August, 2011, 10:52
Hey guys, my father has recently given me some old, ollllllddd webbing/gear which he was given as a child... but can't remember where they came from originally.
It is made out of hessian (I think). Very strong, durable and rather rough to the touch, probably from age. The main (large) compartment says "1955" (or 1953?) on it.
In relatively good condition really!
Anyhow, it's a complete set, along with water canister. Any help? :D
I took pictures of the best markings I could find. There were a few on the small hip compartments, but they were rather faded.
:EDIT: There are lots of small buckles and straps inside the smaller container, and the first picture shows everythiing neatly packed inside it. :D
Here's some pics:

When I got these, I tried ever so hard to link it all together into one piece.
Ever so hard, I gave up.
Ah ha! Typed in "British 55 Webbing" and this come up:
It's very similar, the water canister is exactly the same!
