What gear box?!
19 August, 2011, 19:01
Hello all
Ive been having problems with my GP gear box, everythig seems fine, but I just cant get it to work
Ive replaced the motor etc, just doesnt want to know.
SO Im thinking of just selling the gear box as a spare, everything apart from the piston is fine...
I have a JG HK416
would any V2 gear box work in it??
What would be a good one to get
im v tempted by a ICS one, just for the split gear box part of it :D
or maybe another rear wired GP one.. any thoughts...

From what I know, I don't think an ICS V2 gearbox would work in your gun. I think that the way it mounts into the body requires other mounting pins/screws. I'm not 100% sure on that though.
Otherwise, pretty much any other V2 gearbox should fit in your gun. Just remember to transfer the selector plate.

Re: What gear box?!
isnt the ics one a slightly diffrent shape size to a regular v2 gearbox. so i dont hink it would fit in a non ics gun.

No it isnt just buy a bog standard g and p one so you know it will work as it should. What chance does he stand with a fancy gear box if you can find one in the first place. They are for people who can make the most of them other wise they are just a waste.
ICS won't fit.
Send me your old one...

Re: What gear box?!
daice, there's three problems I can see with your logic:
1 - Not all V2 boxes crack. Yes, some do, but others go on for hundreds of thousands of rounds with no problems. For example, I'm using a totally standard ICS MP5 on 11.1v lipo and so far there have been no issue after 3 years. OK, I'm reducing it's working life, but when it goes I'll replace it.
Which brings me to:
2 - Why pay out the equivalent of a handful of JG boxes, or a few less G&P/VFC/CA etc boxes? That's not very good economic practice unless you know with 100% certainty that you'll be keeping it for years and that the prowin won't break (they can, BTW, it's still based on a basic V2 design after all).
And, finally:
3 - Where are you going to get one from? They're like rocking horse do-do.

You can break them, most of us however don't.
Don't believe everything you read and pass that on as hersay.
I have never radiused any of the corners of my gear boxes and I don't know many people who run them faster or with bigger springs. I do however use sorbo to adjust AOE, does the job for me.
