  • Camo, dust and the 2002 Lid.

    Hey folks!

Anyone know how to properly put Camo on a rifle and make it look dusty?

Also, if anyone knows where is can get my hands on a Mich 2002 Lid that would be great.

Trying to put a Task Force Black Kit together and it's been tougher than I thought!

    Cheers!

to make spray paint look like a dusting you just have to spray it from a fair distance away and gently sweep it over the desired area. start from a long way off and move the can closer till you reach the optimum distance

the mich 2002 helmet you can get from china but because of site rules i cant name the site but it starts with E and ends in Y and you bid for things. :P basically import it, trust me its worth it. i have been doing it for years now and its saved me hundreds upon hundreds of pounds.

      hope that helps a little

Hmm. I dont suppose you know of any tutorials for that?

I'd rather not feck it up and have my M4 look like the dog's dinner! :P

As regards weathering, would it be better for me to spray it first and then go over the high traffic areas and edges with wire wool to make it look chipped?

          How dusty you want?

Here what I have recently done with Krylon and wire wool...

            That looks about right!

I'm looking to get abit of steel shinning through too. Probably wirewool again?

Yeh a more coarse one. The G&P paint is pretty tough, even with some vigerious wire wool action, only taken the shine off of it!

How I did it was pretty quick, only took about an hour total. Sand Krylon, from around foot away. You need to do it as thick as you want it in the thickest place all over really. So by time you done, the whole thing is painted. Let it dry for 30mins, then attack with the wire wool. It comes off very easily :D

              A few hints...

              - Unlike "normal" spraying. Do it built, rather than in pieces. That way it naturally remains in the places it would normally do, ie hardest to reach & inset.

              - Remove the motor, as the wire wool breaks away and is attracted to the magnets

So I basically paint the entire thing and then go at it with wire wool?
