  • 16awg wiring...

Hey guys, i've changed the wiring in my pdw to 16awg, but not had a chance to fire it yet to test it as currently drying the sorbo...

anyway, wondering is there a performance jump that may be noticible? just it appears its making the gearbox harder to close... so may have to switch back to 18awg :/ its proving difficult to shut at the bottom right of the gearbox, next to the bevel gear where the wire bends, there is a piece of metal in the gearbox that pushes down on it... also it appears the black wiring may be catching on the motor pinion gear, though not sure?

Any thoughts on 16guage wiring, and if youve fitted your gun with it and sorted these problems... please tell me how =]

Get 16awg silver teflon wire if it's a problem. 16awg silicon wire is around 3mm overall diameter; the teflon stuff is around 2mm.

              Re: 16awg wiring...

There are a couple of small cast nubs on the top half of the casing in that area usually. If it is them just file them off. It is that simple...

16awg and deans/ XT60 type connectors can make a difference in making things more efficient yes.

What advantage, apart from the mm difference in size does teflon wire have over bog standard available everywhere silicone stuff?

To be honest, very little. However, 16 Guage Military Spec. Silver Teflon wire does sound pretty Gucci It is more rigid so I don't actually like it as much for battery connection leads but that rigidity also means that when you bend it around motors or mag wells and it stays in shape. It works great in V2 boxes, suits SIG 552s very well and is excellent when fitting a mosfet in a front wired M4. It looks very similar to the wire fitted on Marui guns.

Incidentally, I shopped the world looking for it and even with postage the states is actually cheaper than here. Nuts but true.
