AK74 Advice
24 October, 2011, 14:31
I have an ICS ak74, which is rather long which makes it rather unsuitable for my new local site :P. I want to convert the stock to a style which would be more suited to CBQ. However, the battery is housed in the stock so if i changed the stock to a skeleton stock or a side folding stock, there is nowhere for the battery to go or in the case of the side folding stock, the wires and the back of the gearbox are exposed.
Any suggestions as to to what i should do? Bear in mind that the handguard is too small to house even the smallest of batteries, and since its an AK, an PEQ box is definatly out of the question. :P

Re: AK74 Advice
normally any AK battery that doesnt go inside the solid stock goes under the upper receiver, you will need a long battery, heres a clip of where it would go

Re: AK74 Advice
Yep Sparrowhawk is right, use a stick battery in the reciever
Im not sure if you can convert a full solid stock to a side folding stock easily without it looking terrible though :/

Re: AK74 Advice
Tape on side? But i think your best options are: 1) leave gun as is, 2) battery sling, 3) new gun for CQB.
