Lipo help

Hi all

I have been trying to do research on lipo batteries but not finding a great deal!

So I have 7.4v 1100 mAh battery, now I have read that you should not let your lipo batteries cells fall below a certain level as this can damage them and worse case make them potentially volatile

I have a 7 segment display battery monitor for 2-6s lipo batteries but I am unsure what the lowest amount of charge should be for my particular battery per cell? Or the calculation to find out for future batteries that I may purchase.

If i remember correctly its 3.3v per cell that the battery needs to stay above (please correct if wrong someone). Your battery monitor should have a built in alarm which'll go off if either of the cells run too low. Its also important that you balance the cell voltages correctly. If you've brought a proper lipo charger too then it should have a mode to do this.

I have an SRC balance charger

The battery display description does not state that it has alarm either plus comes with no instructions

Will that battery last all day before reaching the 3.3v limit?

if you know the current your gun draws then with the mah and the rof you can work out how many rounds you can shoot in theory before the battery will be low then just take a bit off to be safe.

1100mah should shoot 3000 to 6000 rounds depending on the aeg and what kinda load its drawing, if your worried just get a low voltage monitor there pretty cheap.

I'm reasonably new to airsoft, and went straight for lipos when i got my first gun, so I had to do some crash-course research in the beginning.

I picked up a lipo charger a while back, but never really bothered with it. I would suggest getting a second battery, one for a morning session and another for the afternoon. That way you should have no major worries about voltage drop (unless you're a support gunner or a high-cap monster or something...).

Two lipos are the way to go mate. In my humble opinion of course.

Only 1 person has mentioned the voltage levels per cell so I assume that was the correct answer then as they were not corrected?!

I asked the same question a couple of days ago. It seems the answer is anything between 3.0 and 3.6v. I know that is a huge difference but not even the manufactures seem to know the answer! The best advice I can give is to get a mosfet or alarm that will warn you when you reach a low level. The other choice is use it until your gun has a significant reduction in RoF. I have heard this drop will been sudden and very noticeable though I have never experienced it as I use a mosfet which will automatically cut off the battery when the voltage drops too low.

Alternatively buy 2 or 3 LiPo batteries and spread the use out over the day, I'm sure any LiPo will last at least 2 rounds of skirmishing.

flang is right. Just buy 2-3 lipos depending on mah. Then change at lunch or earlier if required. No need to run it close to death for the sake of £15 for another lipo. And if you know where to look you can get quality RC lipos that will fit for really low prices (if you don't mind xt60 connectors )

Yeah don`t let them drop under 3.2v when under load so 3.3v as a stopping point is a safe bet better then the pack getting hot and venting hydrogen.

Your lipos should be fine down to 2.8v per cell. Newer lipo cells can apparently run even lower, but personally I'd stick with the 2.8v as my most lower limit

i dont go lower than 3.1 and no higher than 4.26
