i would have to disagree with you genista about the pointed tip, i use a pointed tip for all my work and have never had a problem soldering anything, ever!

You miss my point (pun not intended) the smaller the tip the less surface area to transfer heat. You should always pick the right tip and temp for the job. Fine points are not the right tip for soldering deans.
Of course it can be done, but it's harder work.
Properly tinned and heat sinked deans take me seconds to solder.
