Inner, outer, lengths, bore, material?
I'm sure there's many more differences!
More to the point, does it really matter?

I mean the barrel window at the 'start' of the barrel, i was wondering why it had to be different to an AEG's barrel window? and if it improves anything?

It's the design of the hop unit.
I personally don't know why they designed it differently, might have been something to do with space and the way BBs are loaded into it?

Could it also be to do with the need for a gap under an AEG Barrel throat to pass the Wires through (if front wired) ?

Re: Different barrel window on GBB's?
The BBs are loaded from the back of the hop unit whereas the BBs are loaded normally from the underside of an AEG hop unit. The VSR uses the same hop rubber as a pistol.
I think the pistol hop, especially the Hicapa hop unit is the best design for a hop unit, you get fantastic groupings and a range that should be really unheard of out of pistols.
A standard TM Hicapa is able to achieve ranges more accuratly than a lot of real steel pistols.
GBBRs are using very similar hops as well. Systema hops load from the back to.
