  • Selling RIF's

    Hi all,

Basically, I've never sold an RIF before, so I'm not quite sure how to go about doing so. I see people selling them over this forum often, but does someone have to give you their UKARA details some how. I can't really find any info about this online, would appreciate any help.

    Thanks

Yeah, if its a RIF they need to provide you with a defence against(right word?) the VCRA i.e. UKARA.

If its an IF they need to prove they are 18+

Ukara can be checked by various forum members, and more importantly, by zeroone.

I will be at the NAE 27th-30th August and replies to messages may be slow, bear with me!

when they contact you with interest to buy it, ask for their defence.
if its a UKARA number, you get that, their postcode, and their name, then contact zero one and they will do a search for yo to confirm this.
or they can give you their site member number and you can ring the site to enquire if they are a regular player.
so long as you feel that they have presented a case to you that they are over 18 and a regular skirmished (i.e not a 15 trying to rob a shop) then its your call to sell it to them.

UKARA is easyest but its not law, so just be vigilant

Umm, the answers have already been given to your questions in the 2 posts above yours...

          Either validate their UKARA number

          or

          Check with their skirmish site

well thats where you have to be pro active to ensure they are telling the truth.

as said the easyest way of proving something is a UKARA number, as this is a registered number that cant be forged.
another similar system is S.W.A.T's PASS system, each player how own unique number that is held against their name and address, so again lying is very difficult.

a site member number can be used, but is not as solid, as some site allow yo to sign up on your 1st day, so you would have to ring up the site to not only confirm their member number, but that they in fact play often.

this could all be backed up by stuff like photos on them on Facebook/their site's web page, but again thats not as solid as a registered number as like you said, that picture could be of anyone.

at the end of the day its on you to decide if you feel they have a defence against the VCRA, the only bomb proof way is still like UKARA and pass, but if i wanted to sell a gun to my mate who has airsofted with me every weekend for the last 6 months, i know he's using the RIF for what its supposed to be used for so that counts.
