Re: Buying a RIF but have no ukara number (been playing regularly though)
Right, lets get this clear:
1. The OP is NOT trying to circumvent UKARA, he is perfectly within his rights as it is abiding by the LAW. If people agree with the law or not is irrelevant. It is what we have and provided those criteria are met all is good. I am not a fan of the 70mph speed limit, but as it is the law of the land, explaining to the judge that I don't like the speed limit won't help me.
2. Very important this people, pay attention now..... UKARA is NOT THE LAW. It has no legal standing WHATSOEVER in terms of you purchasing RIFs. It is there PURELY to help me prove i made suitable checks before sale. Suitable checks also include calling up other shops / sites to confirm player eligibility. It would be harder to prove in court than a serial number proving database access, but it is perfectly legit.

the_monkey, its not avoidence of anything mandatory so its just using your brains to organise your own defence, something all players should be able to do no problems, im unsure as to what these unpleasant alternatives you refer to are though.
the alternative being that UK Gov takes an interest either bans it, or worse still, decides to regulate it themselves causing all manner of chaos and probally quite a heafty price tag
-'Sly villain! Thou does not acknowledge thine hits!'
-'I doth so, yonder vagabond, but thouest has the control of a nunnery whore, and thine accuracy doth compare to thine codpiece, short of the mark!'

Re: Buying a RIF but have no ukara number (been playing regularly though)
Govt won't take an interest, they stated they didn't want to be involved in registration/a database when the VCRB was being discussed.
They could of course ban RIFs, but banning something because someone
didn't
break the law seems a little harsh to say the least!

To the OP.
Just attend this year's NAE and get yourself an event armband. You won't even have to get your boots dirty by skirmishing. Zeroin themselves (UKARA founding member) allowed the sale of RIFs to people in possession of an armband, so you can tip up Friday afternoon, book in, buy your guns and bugger off home.
If
that
was in the spirit of the ruling they helped make up, my arse is a cream bun.

Not a clue? You'd be better off asking the "Founding fathers" of their own system, as I'm sure they could blag you an answer. Ask if you can see the much vaunted letter while you're at it.

Re: Buying a RIF but have no ukara number (been playing regularly though)
I could bring my 15 year old with me and get him a junior defence if I sign up as his gauruntee guardion / so he can purchase rifs . As another founding member started this scheme a while back .. Or maybe I could buy a dual purpose rif / airpistol . Yet another retailer inspired loophole for ukara .
This is the problem with ukara being a retailer run defence .
When sales drop we will change the rules to get more customers in , Dosnt really protect our sport does it ?

Re: Buying a RIF but have no ukara number (been playing regularly though)
We're going a bit off track with the junior defence caper, as your lad
still
couldn't buy any guns till he's 18. There's another thread about that.
The OP has been playing since October/November time, so in theory could qualify for UKARA. Does doing what he's done make him a "Regular skirmisher?"
In my opinion, yes.

Next time you are at the dictionary perhaps you could look up pedantic!
He is not looking for way around the UKARA... He simply wishes to avoid it altogether!
The point stands though!!!!
