Two toning a RIF
29 June, 2011, 18:17
Hey all,
Can anyone give me some advice on two toning a RIF - what paint to use, the laws on doing so, etc.
I understand 51% of a RIF must be two toned, but that's as far as my knowledge on the law goes.
Cheers,
Dan

Re: Two toning a RIF
OK, firstly it doesn't have to be 51%, it has to be the main colour. For the average black/grey gun that does mean 51%, but if it's a gun with (for example) black parts and silver parts, as long as there's more bright colour than any other single colour then that's OK. Remember, colours that are hard to tell apart such as black/grey or tan/brown will count as one colour.
Colours wise, the acceptable colours are contained in section 12 of the link below:

Paint? Your choice, but humbrol model sprays are pretty good and quite cheap.

Transparent or Bright:
Red
Yellow
Pink
Green
Purple
Blue
Orange
Some of those colours are far more preferable than others.
