Would this be legal?
14 November, 2011, 20:14
Hello, I am currently not UKARA Registerd, and have a RIF Sniper rifle, that is painted in camo. It was given to me by a friend who was UKARA Registerd. Would it be legal for me to use this RIF in skirmishes, or not as i dont have UKARA.
Cheers in advance

Re: Would this be legal?
Yes, as you were given it, you are the owner. You don't need UKARA registration simply to play a game. It is merely a scheme ran by retailers for purchase from them.
There's a scammer operating openly on this forum. Please be aware of who you're dealing with.

Re: Would this be legal?
You dont need anything to own a RIF its just the buying/trading part you need something like UKARA for.

trading (outside of retailers) doesn't fall under the law.

How did you decide that? Are you basing this on a very loose definition of what 'trading' means?

Just be sure when transporting your new rifle to a site that it is concealed properly and if you get stopped by the police with it in your possession that you have the details of the site you have booked etc.

That's correct, but UKARA isn't the law. the VCRA is the law.

Re: Would this be legal?
trading an RIF is covered as the trade is assumed to have a cash value ergo even trading an owned rif from before the ban as an under 18 is ilegal even if it is for an if, same as swapping a gun owned before the ban without a defence.

To be more accurate: An under-18 owner could sell an IF/RIF legally (only selling TO an under-18 person is prohibited, not BY), but couldn't legally swap one for another.

Ah the circles of this forums. Let's not do this guy's it's just going to end up in opinions and people with superiority complexes are going to post as if their word is law.
