There was a time...

A time when The Laughing Man figured out how to use greenscreen on iMovie.

And with great care and patience, he created the most amazing of airsoft videos.

And he uploaded it on YouTube.

Then he had a sandwich.

Behold.

And the people beheld. And they clicked 'like.' And some clicked 'subscribe.'

And they commented on Zeroin. And sandwiches were had by all.

i am impressed by the camera work I have a gopro an may put it to similar use :D

can i ask what filming settings were you using? 1080 wide? or 960 tall blah blah u get the question lol

Ah Battlefield 3, the biggest disappointment any computer gamer has experienced since All Points Bulletin.

None the less, good video. Obviously you don't have the same software and ability as that of high end films, but I enjoyed the actual airsoft footage.

That was really pretty good! A few things maybe to work on (or maybe not, it depends on how good you are at taking suggestions from an idiot on the internet who doesn't even own a GoPro, let alone use one to film airsoft battles);

1. When you switch between your rifle and your pistol (01:09) your HUD doesn't do the same.
2. When in iron sights mode (01:27) your rifle is still visible in the bottom third of the screen. If I was going to do this, I'd mount the GoPro on the top of the rifle, looking through the C-More, so we see what you see.
3. When in binocular mode, the camera doesn't zoom in - I know, I know - but I think a zoom effect is in iMovie's repertoire (though being digital zoom, you'll suffer some quality loss).
4. The green-screened missile strike (03:50) doesn't work well - maybe add some shockwave-camera shake (again, possibly in iMovie's repertoire?) to avoid having to blend your shakycam footage with greenscreen after-effects.

And some stuff that works:

1. The cuts between first- and third-person. These work REALLY well.
2. The zoom cuts between shots are a good segue.
3. The green-screened in jet (variously a MiG-29, an Su-27, an F22 and what looks like an F/A-18?) works well - the ear-shattering roar could be turned up a bit, though.
4. The crash works REALLY well and I completely didn't expect it.

All in all, top marks - nice to see a video that doesn't take three hours to show me some decent action, and a video with some new tricks.

Thanks for the compliments and constructive feedback fellas. I take any scrutiny as mere evidence that you enjoy it and want improvement in future.

I think I was using the gopro on tall, as iMovie had to automatically crop the bottom and top off. This came in handy for making especially low angled shots of the guns, or higher shots of action at my choosing.

iMovie green screen is pretty awful, so I apologize for the bad quality parts. Those effects actually come from a cool iPhone app that I intended to use out in the field but had no chance. The app is much clearer, whilst adding it afterward on the computer isn't so great.

The binoculars did zoom in a bit. Adding that effect was just a spontaneous idea so I'll do it more carefully next time. As with the scope thing.

And any HUD mistakes are just due to getting sick of working on it.

I would love to block my face with the laughing man logo, but I don't really mind showing my mug, and it took me AGES just to get that spinning logo in the corner.

Don't let my criticism get in the way of the fact that it's still a VERY impressive video - I like it a lot. How long did it take to recreate the HUD and all that?

Too long.. A few hours of green screen resizing and layering. Every little step needs to be exported, saved, then imported again, so there's a lot of waiting around..
