  • Night Vision POV at Copehill Down Village

    Hi all.

I thought I'd share my recent trip to Copehill Down where I was able to test out my Night Vision POV rig. I only got about an hour and a half worth of game time till they called the endex, so I recorded as much as I could.

While it was very lightweight running a pistol, I soon ran dry and had to RTB to bomb up. Still, it was pretty cool.

    Hope you all enjoy, thanks.

Cool video. It looked like was quite a bit of non-hit taking though, especially from thr guy you had bang to rights on the outside stairs!

Finally a video worth watching! The light on the building, as it comes up on the thumbnail. Is that infra red?

        Thanks.
Yep, that's the IR illuminator on the PEQ-14. It's quite an impressive beam that it delivers right?

I couldn't tell whether I was getting the hits or not, so sometimes I had to unload in the general area like the chap I caught out in the open.
The guy on the stairs dry fired me, I was down to my last magazine anyway so I went back to reload.

By eck that is powerful. It looks like it's actually too bright to be useful with the NVG's or is that just an effect of the video?

I think that maybe the effect on video. It doesn't bloom that brightly when viewed normally. It was a clear night with almost a full moon so there was probably plenty of ambient light to warrant using it. I should have left the diffuser installed to make navigating inside buildings a bit easier. It's definitely too powerful otherwise.

But when shining it on that building, were you able to see clearer on the beam?

Re: Night Vision POV at Copehill Down Village

Putting it on a window with someone stood at it would clearly make him/her stick out yes. My replica PEQ-2's IR illuminator isn't as powerful but gently produces a less concentrated beam / light onto similar targets which would probably be easier for the camera to pick out. I was going to take it along and mount on my M4 but the adjustment on windage and elevation turrets are binned. That's replicas for you lol.

So the PEQ 14 on the humble Hk45 sufficed. You have any NVG/gear?
