I recently started using Final Cut Pro X for my editing, this is my first attempt. Got a mate to shadow me as a Scoutthedoggie style, 3rd person camera man, works nicely for hearing and seeing what the enemy are up to, as well as what I'm doing at the same time, take a look:

Some great stuff there Ed. I watched them all and subscribed. You asked for comments – you got them

• Great tactical commentary on the first. Very well explained, with some carefully won kills. Almost makes it look easy! I've not done game commentaries before, so I might give it a go now too.

• I like the separate zoom / lens cam in the second video. I've been asked to do something like that in a few of my videos too, but I wasn't sure if it would work. Yours does, so I think I'll try it out to give clearer views of my kills.

• Really cool castle in the third video, and I liked some of the action. Your AEG is beautiful too. I think for that particular site, I would have been tempted to sit out of a game and just film other people to mix into the video. It's such a dynamic and multidimensional arena, but we only get to see it from your perspective, and you stay within a relatively small area. Perhaps next time you can have a quick pan around the castle after the game and edit it into your footage to let the viewer see more of where you're playing. Just a suggestion

• The hyperball game is great. The dual perspective works really well, since as a viewer, we often get bored just seeing headcam stuff. If I were you I wouldn't be afraid to switch between the two fullscreen views rather than just using the little inset video. Basically your buddy cameraman isn’t always looking at you, so at times it gets a wee bit confusing trying to navigate between what you’re seeing and where he’s looking. Maybe just cut the bits of you and edit that into your footage.

• The fort clearance is very cool as you had the opportunity to move around more, and I always think using a pistol looks better on film than a rifle – just because we can see the whole gun. The video is great, and can’t be improved, but let me make a suggestion anyway :p For that one, after the game was finished, I would have taken my camera off and asked a friend to film me doing exactly what I did for a second time from a third person perspective. You would be repeating your steps (faking it) and you wouldn’t get any kills of course, but you could then mix that footage into your headcam game footage for a mix of first and third person. That’s what I do, and it seems to work really well. Here’s my video using that method. Both my friends and I used my gopro on our guns/arms/heads, then we filmed each other after the game and I spliced the footage together.

• The last video is great because it’s just a mash up of the action. No waiting around during the boring bits. I’ve done this before too and had mixed response. Some viewers prefer to see an entire game rather than just kills – others only want the action. I guess we just have to include a few of each type of video on our channels

Anyway, hope you don’t mind the feedback. I really like your stuff. What I’ve learned is that you have to try new angles and ideas to pull in more viewers. Scoutthedoggie seems to get the most because it’s mostly just cameraman / third person stuff. At the moment I want to play more than just film other people, but if you try being cameraman a bit too, other people will start to offer to film you, and you can get good footage of yourself to add to your videos. Just a consideration. Keep up the great work!

Anyway, here’s my latest video from a CQB arena called City Hunter here in Hong Kong. I use my 3rd Person POV GoPro mount (so I don’t need a cameraman) and I film some of my buddies to mix into the action. Let me know what you think, and like and subscribe if you feel so inclined!
