    Re: UKARA Verified

UKARA and the Law is flawed - what's to stop a criminal with a real firearm painting it bright green? Still fires real bullets - but is apparently okay to have?

    Hmmm...

Dave; I can certainly see where you are coming from with your point of view on the matters. There are actually a couple of UK based retailers that will sell RIF's to UNDER 18's who aren't even registered. I wouldn't like to ask HOW they get away with such matters.

At some skirmish sites, there are under 18's, and I've even seen under 16's with site guns who play, and seem responsible, taking their hits etc, so age is not a measure of maturity.

Another thing that was pointed out to me a few months back is "why can a 17 year old legally own a shotgun + licence but yet not have the ability to purchase a realistic imitation firearm that shoots harmless pellets." And lets be honest, they are harmless with todays skirmishing rules which require you to wear safety goggles. Weapons have to shoot over 373fps to penetrate the eye anyway.

Technicalities aside, at our site we offer the ability for members who AREN'T registered the ability to store the weapons in a heavily secured safe which are only accessible by the site owner on skirmish days.

However, I think the system mentioned in the first post would be a great introduction to the site, and if it is possible, then why not make it available on all Airsoft Forums?

    Regards, Matt.

But the defence doesnt need to be taken seriously. Its a defence. If we need it, we use it. Its the only situation its important, and very few people have ever had to actually use it. All you have to do is prove you're a skirmisher. How you do it is up to you. Theyre not going to revoke it, the government has already tried banning airsoft and failed. The VCRB doesnt mention UKARA, and the police dont actually even care (someone I heard of who had to talk to an ARU tried giving them his UKARA and the copper couldnt be less bothered). Its also not the odd cavalier retailer, its a certain very well known airsoft superstore.

Lets not even mention the fact you can buy a deactivated firearm that you can actually convert back to fire live ammo much more easily than you can buy an airsoft replica.

Is getting registered for FREE too much of a hardship? I'd do a load more than that as long as it meant i'd still be able to buy new gear when my old gat is passed it.

You goto a site 3 times in the same year and your sorted.

UKARA isn't proof you're a regular skirmisher though, and therefore doesn't mean you're covered by the specific defence we have in the VCRA
