  • Posting in sales threads

A little rant about peoples sales threads. If some one is selling a item then surely they can talk with another member of the forum about that item in there own thread. When moderators ask them to move to PM'ing that means that other people viewing the thread can't see the conversions. So therefore the same question gets asked to the seller 10 times, when it could just be left on the page. It just seems like the threads are being over-moderated, with all respect to the moderaters they do a great job with keeping up with the trolls but they just go beyond the call of duty sometimes. Rant over and just wondering what you think.

If it is a genuine generic question, then should go in the thread.

This one for example though: http://www.zeroin.co.uk/showthread.php?t=63547

Was just being needlessly bumped up all of this morning!

I had a conversation deleted from my latest AEG sales thread. Now, nobody knows what the conversation was about or what it revealed.

There's exceptionally poor moderation on this board from one mod in particular.

Agree with JAG, if it's genuine questions then fair enough, but quite often it's just a conversation that should have gone to PM. Especially when it's about pricing. After all, why anyone wants to make public their offer is beyond me

          Re: Posting in sales threads

Mont - is this in relation to the MP5 thread that I posted in this morning?

The truth of the matter is this:- If people put a little more effort into the creation of their threads, then some questions can be avoided.
If a user is genuinely interested and needs to ask something, then this could be PM'd.

As soon as those 3 days have passed, the OP can then post:
"Bump, I was also informed that this is compatible with STAR magazines, however, as per another PM, I won't be taking offers at this time".

The "where are you located" question follows the same suit. If people are interested, ask via PM. Then the OP can say "if someone is interested in picking up, I live in North Wales".

Truth of the matter is, if these things are thought about by the OP's, then there wouldn't be a need to bump the threads.

Genuine questions are normally left on the thread if they pose an answer to the public.

True in part. Another example is "Pictures on request" and a few days later someone posting "Pictures please"
It's not just the OPs fault though. For example and in reference to my earlier post:
            http://www.zeroin.co.uk/showthread.php?t=65644

WHY? If anyone else wants it, they're just going to offer £26 or more. Another one is asking stupid questions that are already covered in the original post such as what accessories it comes with, when it clearly states it. As a seller, you can't do much about that.

That's true, like on my Flyye Rig thread - "How much was this kit brand new" when I had listed the prices. Still, I hadn't reported the post or what-not, sometime's I think one's stupidity should be shown publically, hehe!

                Re: Posting in sales threads

I dont appreciate having parts of my OP deleted. Especially when they state 'I WILL NOT POST THIS ITEM'.

Ive had 6 people asking me to post them a bloody gun. I just wont bring myself to do it. My principle has ALWAYS deal face to face, that way i have no come backs, no problems, and no issues with paypal disputes, or scammers. They see gun in the flesh (or metal so to speak), are happy with the condition and the fact it works - no come backs. Sold as seen and tested. By them.

So what use is it, when after spending time writing this, it gets deleted, and my inbox gets filled with people who i then have to turn down? Ill tell you. To f*ck everybody around, buyers and seller aswell.

So you have something advertised at £35, someone posts in your thread they'll offer you £26 and then someone PMs you offering £30. Which one are you going to take?

                      Re: Posting in sales threads

I am with fizzy on this one. Offers for less than the advertised amount shold be made by pm. In fact all requests should be made by pm.

As mentioned above, too, the OP should make as much info possible on the orginal ad. After all the template allows for any and all info to be added at point of sale.

it bumped the post 4 times in a few hours and concluded with the user admitting he made a mistake so it was cleaned and put back into its place on the forum.

This thread is really no different to the one that Gaffa reported, and I agree with most on this, once you have asked your question, if you wish to discuss it further take it to private.
