z1 why i love you
23 September, 2010, 20:25
so as some of you know back in march i sent my glock 17 to z1 as the slide was sticking. they called me a few days later saying it needs a new part costing around £12 and will take a few weeks to come in.
so after a 7 month wait with no correspondence off them, i got a message today saying my replacement parts have arrived and payment is required.
i called them as soon as i could and here is a brief idea of what happened
Andy asks my name and then for my card details.
(B) how much is it first?
(A) that comes to £67
(B) £67!!!!!!!! you said about £12.
(A) no i didn't i never give out prices over the phone, and that includes labour charge
(B) so how much was the part then?
(A) £24 he replys.
(B) ok then, well i never asked you to fit it as i can do that myself so if you remove the part i will buy it off you separate..... so £24 plus postage!!
(A) NO i am not doing that you pay £67 or i am not selling them to you
(B) why not?
(A) cos im not
(B) but i have been a z1 customer for 10 years
(A) i don't care i am not selling you the parts without a labour charge.
so if he never gives out prices over the phone (which he did) that means not once have i ever been contacted regarding cost.
he had an aggressive voice throughout the conversation
i never agreed for them to carryout the work
childlike behaviour refusing to sell me what i have waited 7 months for.
not one reply to my emails over the last 7 months regarding the projects status
so after a seven month wait i get abuse over the phone, no fix and still have to pay to have my pistol returned to me.
Thanks z1 A+ in customer service

Re: z1 why i love you
Just to inform anyone who is interested of the ACTUAL FACTS of this case;
1. The pistol actually arrived in April, which in fact is 5 months and not 7.
2. Ben was informed at the time that being a Marui product, the parts would be ordered from Marui but it would be impossible to give their ETA as they are the worst company to get genuine spares from out of all that we deal with, but we will do our best for him.
3. His statement that he was quoted a price of £12, is quite simply a lie. Anyone with any common sense should know that prices would only be known when the parts arrived and at best we could only give a very vague aproximation. It is not reasonable for anyone to assume that a trigger bar and gas block would only be £12. We certainly would not!
4. If Ben never asked us to fit the parts as he says, why did he send us the gun. Clearly it was for us to find the fault, and effect a repair. We have a letter of request from the customer to support this.
5. He was only charged an hours labour - which included finding the faulty parts, the rest was the parts themselves including postage. Even though as any experienced Tech should know, to find the fault in a gas pistol and repair the gun will take more than an hour.
6. When we phoned Ben to inform him that the repair was complete and tell him the charge involved, he told us that it was an unaceptably high charge, so we gave him two choices; either pay the cost or we could remove the parts and send the gun back as it had arrived (which would be at our loss). To which he asked for the parts to be sent so that hey could fit them himself.
Having found the fault and repaired the gun at his request to be faced with more waisted time having to remove the parts, it was not acceptable to us to just supply the parts to the person wasting all this time so that he could achieve a DIY repair, that we had diagnosed. And yes we refused to supply the parts.
We do normally supply spare parts frequently as we are one of the few companies in this country that actually bother to source spare parts, for all models, including obtaining specialist genuine spare parts for any problem from the makers. It is not however our fault if the companies involved take months to supply, we are having a constant struggle with manufacturers to supply spare parts so that we can repair customers guns, and we put more effort into sourcing and chasing for the supply of all these parts than you are likely to find anywhere else in this country.
7. This forum is NOT for individuals such as Ben Ellison, who when they don't get the result they want, throw a tantrum and toss all their toys out of the pram and call for a boycott of the company that run's this forum. We do not support hate threads of any description - be it against us, another company, or a single individual. Zero In was created specifically to get away from the soft of nonsense, hatred and political garbage that puts a downer on peoples day. We want general friendly banter, and we will keep it that way, and keep Zero In a casual, happy forum that is a pleasure to look at.
For the use of bad language, Paulyboy banned.
For suggesting a boycott, Philshot banned.
